MAC3 paving breakers and pick hammers : inside manufacturing
MAC3 focus the highest level of importance to the quality and reliability of its products, which is why the company selects only the best components for the manufacture of its range of pneumatic tools. The manufacturing of MAC3 breakers and hammers is entirely carried out in its production site, in St-Cyprien, in the heart of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region of France. MAC3 provide you an immersion in its factory, where you will discover how a piece of metal becomes a high performance breaker or hammer.
The first step in the manufacturing process of MAC3 breakers and hammers is the drilling of the steel cylinders. Several drills, of different diameters, drill the cylinder body at its center to form the internal architecture of the future tool and allow the cylinder to maintain its concentricity.
Once the internal bores have been made, the workpiece is placed in a numerically controlled lathe for external machining. This first machining will allow precise profiling the monoblock cylinder.
Once this work is completed, the semi-machined cylinder is placed in a machining center which will drill the various screw threads and the feed and circulation ducts of the tool.
The one-piece cylinder is then subjected to electro-erosion, a process that allows material to be removed by means of electric shocks. This technique provides the advantage of achieving very precise machining and is used by MAC3 to make the final adjustments on the cylinders of breakers or hammers.
Finally, each cylinder is engraved with a unique
3. Heat treatment
After machining, the monobloc cylinders are then heat treated to a precise process. This type of treatment allows the steel to increase its intrinsic technical performance and strengthening.
4. Surface treatment
A second treatment is carried out on the cylinders of MAC3 breakers and hammers, the surface treatment. This process provides a greater resistance against corrosion, while ensuring respect for the environment.
5. Tool assembly
Once the machining and processing is done, the assembly of tools can begin. It starts with the combination of the cylinder and the front head, which are assembled by the action of a press. Then, all the internal elements of the future breaker or hammer are installed : the piston, the distribution valve and the joints.
Finally, the handle is mounted and secured on the top of the tool. The MAC3 breakers and hammers have the advantage of being quickly assembled because they have fewer parts due to the optimized design. A definite advantage for the performance and reliability of the tool and the low maintenance is due to the reduced number of components.
Before being packaged each tool has an engraved product information / identification plate fitted, each pneumatic tool manufactured is then tested and must fulfill all the criteria of performances which characterize each tool.
